EPR target calculator for plastic packaging
Enter what you placed on the market in the last two financial years. The calculator applies the formula and the tables of the Guidelines on Extended Producer Responsibility for plastic packaging (Schedule II to the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016) and shows, per category, your EPR target, the minimum you must recycle, the most that may go to end of life disposal, and your recycled content and reuse obligations.
The calculator needs JavaScript. The rules it applies are set out below.

- End of life disposal means energy recovery: co-processing in cement, steel and similar industries, waste to energy, waste to oil and road construction. Turning plastic waste into new plastic or feedstock chemicals counts as recycling (rule 3(ga), G.S.R. 237(E)).
- No recycled content or reuse is due where a law or a mandatory Indian Standard does not permit it (for example FSSAI, CDSCO or Central Insecticides Board rules); cite it in your annual return. A food-contact shortfall of 2025-26 may be carried forward over up to three years from 2026-27, at least one third each year.
- Importers: recycled plastic already in imported material does not count. Meet the obligation with certificates bought from producers, importers or brand owners who used more than their share (paragraph 7.3(d)).
- Not covered: manufacturers and importers of plastic raw material, whose target is the raw material they sold to micro and small producers (paragraph 7.8), and environmental compensation.
